Man loses N200,000 job for calling the employer ‘Uncle’
A Nigerian man has lost an attractive N200,000 job due to his word of endearment directed at the employer during the interview.
According to reports, his attempt to be informal caused him the offer, even though he was the best candidate for the job.
This report was given by controversial blogger and investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo in a recent post via her Twitter handle where she shared the story of how a man lost a N200,000 job in Lekki for calling the boss ‘uncle’ during interview.
Kemi Olunloyo wrote that a man lost a N200K per month job at his brother’s company in Lekki. He was the best qualified candidate, but lost the opportunity simply because he called his brother “Uncle” during the interview.
Kemi said people should stop addressing people with titles they feel comfortable with, and be respectful.
